  All people are born free and have equal rights. Government exists to protect those rights, not override them.

• §2 – Popular Sovereignty

  
  

  Power comes from the people. If government abuses power, the people have the right to reform it.

• §3 – Equal Rights / No Special Privileges

  
  

  Government cannot grant special privileges to one group at the expense of others.

  Texans may speak freely. Government cannot punish lawful speech.

  No person can lose life, liberty, property, or privileges without due process.

  Courts must be open, and people must have a meaningful remedy for injury.
