Texans are being crushed by a property tax system that was never meant to exist in its current form. Politicians tell us “that’s just the way it is,” but the Constitution tells a very different story.
This post breaks down the myths the state uses to justify this broken system — and the reality Texans deserve to know.
✅ MYTH #1:
“Property taxes are necessary to fund the state.”
❗ REALITY:
Property taxes were NEVER intended to be the primary revenue tool.
Texas has:
• A constitutional school fund
• Sales and use taxes
• Oil & gas revenue
• Corporate revenue streams
• Growing economic sectors
And yet the burden continues to fall on homeowners — the one group least able to absorb endless growth.
This isn’t financial necessity.
This is government laziness and constitutional mismanagement.
⸻
✅ MYTH #2:
“Property taxes are fair because values reflect the market.”
❗ REALITY:
Appraisal districts inflate values artificially to keep tax revenue rising.
Texans see:
• 200% appraisal increases
• 300% appraisal increases
• 375% increases overnight
• Values far above real market prices
• Homes in flood zones appraised like luxury estates
This is not fairness.
This is theft disguised as math.
✅ MYTH #3:
“The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) protects homeowners.”
❗ REALITY:
The ARB is unelected, unaccountable, and unconstitutional.
What does the ARB actually do?
• Denies valid evidence
• Ignores flood zones
• Rejects legitimate protests
• Sides with appraisal districts
• Hides behind “the black book” of internal rules
• Violates homeowners’ rights
• Operates like a rubber stamp machine
Texans walk in expecting justice — they leave feeling humiliated, dismissed, and powerless.
That’s not due process.
That’s government overreach.
⸻
⭐ SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
Here’s the reality every Texan needs to hear:
✔ Property taxes are unconstitutional in their current form
✔ The ARB system violates due process
✔ Homeowners are subsidizing government waste
✔ Schools are not dependent on property taxes
✔ The Constitution already provides a better system
✔ Families are losing homes because the law is not being followed
The myth protects the system.
The truth protects the people.
⭐ THE SOLUTION: Property Tax Freedom
As your Representative for District 89, I will fight to:
✔ Remove the ARB Boards statewide
✔ Restore constitutional school funding
✔ Cap appraisals permanently
✔ Provide real transparency
✔ End runaway tax increases
✔ Protect seniors, veterans, widows, and working families
Texas deserves a tax system that is fair, legal, and grounded in the Constitution.
Not a system built on intimidation and hardship.
⭐ THIS IS PERSONAL
My own family has been crushed by unconstitutional appraisals.
I’ve lived it.
I’ve fought it.
I’ve taken them to court.
And now I’m taking this fight to Austin.
No Texan should ever lose their home just because politicians refuse to follow the law.
